Mugwort [Artemisia vulgaris]

Mugwort, though commonly treated as a weed in America, is an herbal powerhouse with many applications. When used internally, it supports digestion and has relaxing properties.

One of the primary uses is in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese traditional medicine in the practice of Moxibustion. Mugwort or wormwood leaves are formed into sticks or cones and then burned on or over an acupuncture point to release energy.

Mugwort can also stimulate a women’s menstrual cycle and, in the past, was used to induce abortions. Mugwort can act as a yellow dye, has immense antimicrobial properties, is an insect repellant, an adaptogen, and a possible treatment for conditions ranging from flatulence to infertility. Pretty good for a weed.
